Swageless means no swaging tool. It does not eliminate cable cutting, measuring or the hand tools specified for the fitting.

Match the wrench reference to the fitting, not just the appearance of the post. This list covers cable preparation and selected level-fitting tools, not every task involved in building a railing.

A completed list is an inventory check, not confirmation that posts, holes, hardware or installation are ready. Drill bits, fastener drivers, access equipment and task-appropriate protective equipment must be confirmed separately.

Give each tool a specific job
Cut and hold the cable
Use a cable cutter suitable for the specified cable. Our kit includes a C-7 cutter. Cable gripping pliers hold the cable during adjustment so it does not turn with the fitting.
Measure and mark
Keep a tape measure and a suitable marking tool with the cable tools. Determine the cut from the exact fitting instructions, not a universal deduction applied to every model.
Assemble the cable end
The jaw insertion tool is an assembly aid included in our kit. It is not a crimper. Its inclusion does not mean a hydraulic swaging tool is needed for our swageless fittings.
Prepare for the finish
For black oxide products, include clean lint-free cloths and review the finish-specific handling instructions. Confirm the recommended care products separately before installation.

Drilling and fastening
Post material, the exact attachment and the system instructions determine hole preparation and fastener tools. The planner does not choose a pilot-hole size, tap, screw length or drill setting.
Installation and inspection
Keep the applicable instructions with the project. Tool possession does not verify post structure, cable layout, tension or compliance. Resolve those items independently before installation.
Cable railing tool questions
Do I need a hydraulic crimper for these fittings?
Our swageless cable fittings do not require a swaging tool to attach the cable. Cutting, holding and adjustment tools still have a role. Other manufacturers' crimped systems have their own tool requirements.
Does the installation kit include the wood-post wrench?
The published four-piece kit list includes a 3/16-inch Allen wrench, not a 7/16-inch wrench. The wood-post level fitting lists a 7/16-inch wrench, so account for it separately.
Is the jaw insertion tool a required crimping tool?
No. It is an assembly aid listed in our kit, not a swaging press. The planner includes it for kit inventory, without describing it as mandatory for every installation method.
Does selecting wood posts identify every tool I need?
No. The wood selection is a reference to the listed level fitting with lag. Drilling, attachment preparation and any stair hardware must follow the exact product and post-system instructions.
Does the list include cable or fitting quantities?
No. The totals count tool and supply categories, not pieces of railing hardware, cable strands or the number of cloths to buy. The planner is not a bill of materials for the railing.
Can I use a completed checklist as installation approval?
No. It only records items marked as on hand. It does not assess the condition or suitability of the tools, the installed structure or the quality of the finished work.
